Handstand + Coffee Workshop
Handstand + Coffee Workshop
Join me for a very special handstand workshop on Sunday March 22nd. This will be the tenth workshop I’ve done in Brussels, but the very first one done as a collaboration. It will be held in the beautiful Berger Court in Ixelles and the handstand portion will be followed by an artisanal coffee workshop led by Julien Charpentier (a.k.a. LeSharp) from SŪN cafe. Julien will share some insider coffee tips, including how to make the special caramel miso latte recipe at home :)
Whether you’re just starting out or already comfortable upside down, this workshop will help you develop strength, stability, and trust in your body. We’ll break down every element of these inversions: how to enter with control, distribute weight through the hands, refine alignment, use the wall intelligently, exit safely, and practice safely at every stage.
What to expect:
To give our handstands the energy they deserve, we will kick things off with a small shot of coffee- an amuse bouche, if you will ;)
Then, we’ll ease into things with a 70-minute yoga practice. We'll breathe, stretch, and prime the areas to be worked in the practice following, specifically the shoulders, core, hips, and wrists.
Following our yoga flow, get ready to go upside down! We will work on specific yet accessible drills to strengthen the upper body and improve balance on the hands. There will be time to practice various inversions (i.e. headstand forearm stand) as well as different entries to the handstand. I will be there along the way to assist and cue you to ensure safe practice.
If you have joined the previous handstand workshops, there will be new drills to practice :) Expect different ways to enter the position, drills to build strength, and exercises to hone balance away from the wall.
Once we’ve wrapped the handstand portion, we will head into a mini coffee workshop led by the talented Julien Charpentier. He will showcase different brewing methods and you will have the chance to sample a few brews. There may also be some baked goods to accompany the drinks ;)
All of the props will be provided, but I recommend you bring a small towel, a water bottle, and a pair of socks with you.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Xoxo,
Ally
